description: This dataset contains occurrence data for highest priority bird species in the Peninsular Florida Bird Conservation Region (BCR 31), as determined by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), which are also listed as federally threatened or endangered in the Federal List of Endangered and Threatened Wildlife, as determined by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) under the authority of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) of 1973. Additional species not matching this criteria may also be included in the layer by request (see metadata process steps for details). Data is from 2019-01-01 to 2023-12-31 and was downloaded using the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) API. The data is a subset of bird occurrences derived from the EOD – eBird Observation Dataset, a biodiversity-related citizen science project managed by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
